The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, has called for the temporary reinstatement of the Velister television platform for a period of two months. This request comes in response to widespread complaints from viewers after the transition to a new digital broadcasting standard implemented on July 1. Many individuals reported losing reception and access to television channels due to the switch to the Hellas Sat network.
The government is currently exploring this solution to alleviate the issues caused by the recent changes in digital television broadcasting. The transition to the new standard has left thousands without access to television services, prompting dissatisfaction among the public. Damianou emphasized the urgency of addressing this chaos as the government seeks to ensure that viewers can regain their access to channels while a longer-term solution is finalized.
