Three individuals were arrested in connection with accidental fires that occurred on July 1, 2026, in the regions of Preveza and Halkidiki, Greece. The suspects include a 58-year-old and a 24-year-old, who reportedly ignited the fires while attempting to burn pallets and animal waste in an agricultural area in Valanidosa, Preveza. The fire spread, consuming approximately 25 acres of land.
The Greek Fire Service emphasized that human negligence has been a leading cause of the majority of fires this year, urging the public to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations to prevent further incidents. The cases are currently under investigation by the Arson Crime Investigation Units, which are tasked with addressing fire-related offenses.
