The payments for survivor pensions in Greece are scheduled to be made at the end of August 2026. Approximately 8,500 beneficiaries are expected to receive increases of up to 50% in their pensions due to new regulations that eliminate previous cuts imposed by the SYRIZA government. This legislative change is intended to rectify distortions caused by earlier pension reforms.
While the upcoming adjustments will provide financial benefits to these beneficiaries, it is clarified that there will be no retroactive payments to compensate for amounts lost in previous years. Overall, around 200,000 retirees are anticipated to benefit from this reform, as it ensures that their pensions will not be further reduced.
