A new agreement between the Greek government, food industry representatives, and supermarket chains is set to introduce price reductions of 5% to 20% on a range of essential products starting August 31, 2026. The initiative aims to provide significant discounts on items including fresh meat, dairy, baby products, and detergents, benefiting consumers amid ongoing economic challenges.
To enhance transparency and consumer awareness, products participating in the price reduction scheme will be marked with a special label at retail locations. Additionally, detailed information will be available on the PosoKanei platform, which is designed to help consumers easily identify products with decreased prices. The government hopes this initiative will support consumers while fostering cooperation between various sectors involved in the retail market.
