On the morning of July 8, 2026, residents of the Latsia area in Nicosia experienced a power outage due to a fault in the electricity network managed by the Cyprus Electricity Authority (AEC). Christina Papadopoulou, spokesperson for AEC, reported that the outage may have resulted from damage to an underground cable.
The power disruption has affected areas surrounding the Latsia Municipal Hall, prompting AEC teams to respond and work on restoring electricity to the affected regions. As of now, no specific timeline for the restoration of power has been provided. The situation continues to be monitored by AEC as their personnel address the issue.
