OpenAI has introduced a new voice model called GPT-Live, which enhances the conversational capabilities of ChatGPT by allowing it to listen and speak simultaneously. This full-duplex architecture eliminates delays present in previous models, creating a more fluid interaction experience. The update aims to make AI conversations feel more human-like, enabling real-time discussions without interruptions.
GPT-Live is designed to handle complex questions more effectively, leveraging the capabilities of GPT-5.5 to deliver improved response quality. It is currently available for paying users of ChatGPT, with an accompanying mini version also offered. Furthermore, the new voice feature is expected to facilitate applications such as live translation, expanding its utility beyond simple conversational use.
