The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is planning to introduce an overnight trading venue in 2027, as reported by the Financial Times. This initiative aims to extend trading hours beyond the traditional limits, allowing for what the LSE describes as "near-continuous trading" during the working week.
The decision to launch overnight trading comes in response to escalating competition from cryptocurrency markets and tokenized equity platforms, which currently operate 24 hours a day. By providing additional trading opportunities, the LSE hopes to enhance its appeal and retain market share in an increasingly competitive financial landscape.
