On July 6, 2026, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (ΑΗΚ) and the Ministry of Defence signed a new agreement for the supply, installation, and eight-year maintenance of approximately 4,400 LED lighting fixtures. These fixtures will replace an equal number of outdated high-pressure sodium lights currently in use at military camps across Cyprus.
The agreement aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce maintenance costs associated with older lighting systems. The implementation of LED technology is part of a broader initiative to enhance sustainability within government operations, reflecting a commitment to modernizing infrastructure in line with current environmental standards.
