In a significant police operation in the municipality of Pylos-Nestoras, Messinia, authorities have discovered a large cannabis plantation containing over 1,500 saplings. The operation, carried out by drug enforcement units, resulted in the arrest of two individuals, with one additional suspect identified but not detained at the time of the raid. The plantation is estimated to have the potential to yield approximately 766 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated market value of around €2.3 million.
The operation took place after police received intelligence regarding the illegal cultivation activities, which had been ongoing since at least May. In addition to the saplings, investigators found extensive irrigation systems, including six kilometers of hoses, indicating a well-organized effort to maintain the illegal operation. The authorities continue to investigate the broader network involved in the cultivation.
