A fire broke out in the area of Skala Eressou on the island of Lesbos on the afternoon of July 7, 2026, prompting a significant response from the fire department. The blaze is occurring in a challenging terrain characterized by low vegetation, located just outside Skala Eressou along the road towards Mesotopos in the Municipality of Western Lesbos.
Firefighting efforts involve both ground and aerial resources. Reports indicate that 15 to 18 firefighters are currently engaged in combating the fire, accompanied by five ground vehicles.
