A wildfire has erupted in North Macedonia, approximately 200 meters from the Greek border, near the village of Akritas in the Kilkis region. The fire ignited in the morning hours and has raised concerns among local authorities, prompting a heightened state of alert in the Kilkis area due to its proximity to the borders.
Initially, the fire was situated about 400 meters from Greece, but as it has spread, it has come much closer to the international boundary. The firefighting units in Kilkis are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any potential cross-border escalation. Currently, there are measures in place to control the situation, although details regarding the extent of the damage or the cause of the fire have not been reported.
