A fire broke out in the area of Perivolaki Lagkada in Thessaloniki on July 15, 2026, leading to immediate action from firefighting teams. The blaze, which started in a region with reeds and dry vegetation near a waste disposal area and irrigation canal, was quickly contained, and efforts to fully extinguish it are ongoing.
Prior to the incident in Lagkada, several other fires were reported in the region. A fire in the municipality of Peiraia was also brought under control on July 14, with no danger to nearby structures. Additional incidents involved fires at Psakoudia in Halkidiki, which were addressed within 45 minutes, and another in Agios Athanasios, where firefighters managed to contain the fire within half an hour. These rapid responses by firefighting units helped prevent injuries and significant property damage in each case.
