A fire that broke out in the mountainous area of Vali Kalda, located in the municipality of Grevena, has been brought under control. The fire started on Thursday evening in a difficult-to-access location known as "Avgo." Firefighters reported that they successfully contained the blaze late on June 25, just before 10:00 PM, while remaining on-site with two firefighters and one vehicle for ongoing monitoring.
The incident occurred at a considerable distance from residential areas and infrastructure, reducing risks associated with spreading to populated regions. A helicopter was also involved in the firefighting efforts, although it had to make an emergency landing into the artificial Aoos lake during the operation. Currently, the perimeter of the area is secure, ensuring that further incidents can be effectively managed.
