According to Eurostat, Cyprus achieved the highest retail sales growth in the European Union for May 2026, reporting an increase of 8.4% in retail turnover. This significant rise places Cyprus at the forefront of retail performance among EU member states, with the average increase across the EU being only 1.9% and 1.6% in the Eurozone.
Eurostat's data highlights that Cyprus not only led in annual growth but also in monthly increases in the volume of retail trade. The figures indicate that the retail trade volume in Cyprus grew by 3.7% when comparing May 2026 to the previous month. This performance reflects the strength of the retail sector in Cyprus amidst varying growth rates in other EU countries.
