E. Jean Carroll has received a payment of $5.6 million from Donald Trump following a ruling by a jury in a civil trial in which Trump was found liable for sexual assault and defamation. The case centered around allegations that Trump sexually assaulted Carroll in a New York department store in 1996, claims he has vigorously denied while referring to her as "deranged."
The Manhattan federal court released the funds after Trump’s appeals to overturn the judgment were unsuccessful. His attempts to delay the payment were blocked, and a U.S. Supreme Court decision at the end of June confirmed that the ruling against him would stand. Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, confirmed that the funds were officially released, marking a significant moment in Carroll's legal battles against Trump pertaining to the allegations.
