- Greece has significantly strengthened its deterrent capabilities in 2026, marking the strongest deterrent force in decades. Despite this improvement, Turkey still maintains a numerical superiority in military personnel. The active military personnel in Greece is reported to be 131,650, while Turkey's stands at 355,200. According to the report, there are currently 2.6 Turkish soldiers for every Greek soldier, an improvement from a ratio of 3.5 to 1 in 2014. The findings are part of the annual Greece-Turkey Balance of Forces report published by the Cyprus Center for Strategic Studies.
