As of April 2026, non-performing loans (NPLs) in the Cypriot banking sector have experienced a slight decline, totaling €830 million. This figure reflects a marginal decrease from the prior month and remains just below levels recorded at the end of 2025. The NPL ratio within the banking system has stabilized at 1.6%, according to a report from the Central Bank of Cyprus.
The report highlights that despite the overall reduction in NPLs, challenges remain, particularly within households where the NPL rate is reported to be higher. The statistics show a continuing effort by the banking sector to manage loan performance, which has seen gradual improvements in recent months.
