As of June 2026, total bank deposits in Cyprus have reached €58 billion, reflecting a positive monthly increase. This growth was recorded in the context of data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), which indicated that total deposits increased by €343.8 million in May alone. The surge in deposits is part of a broader trend observed since the beginning of the year, as households and businesses have been accumulating liquidity.
Despite this increase, the rate of growth in deposits appears to be more measured compared to the same period last year. While the financial data shows an upward trajectory in both deposits and lending activity, indicating a strengthening of the banking sector, the monthly increase demonstrates a shift towards a more cautious financial environment among Cypriot residents and enterprises. Overall, the upward trend in deposits signifies a gradual recovery and resilience in the local banking landscape.
