The Administrative Appeals Court has denied a request from eight communities to suspend the planning permission for an asphalt plant near the village of Mitsero. The court's decision means that the construction of the plant can proceed while an appeal regarding the planning permission is pending. This permit allows for the establishment and operation of an asphalt concrete production facility.
The communities involved in the legal action include Mitsero, Agrokipia, Agios Ioannis of Nicosia, Kato Moni, Arediou, Meniko, Malounda, and Orunda. They previously argued that the plant's operation could lead to irreversible damage and claimed that there was a significant legal violation in granting the permission. However, the court concluded that no clear illegality was established and that no irreparable harm would occur as a result of allowing the plant to proceed.
