Milena Apostolaki, a member of the Greek Parliament from the PASOK party, has criticized the government’s approach to managing private debt, claiming that the measures introduced fail to address the underlying issues and instead perpetuate a cycle of inequality. In her recent statements, she argued that the government's attempts to alleviate citizens from debt do not extend to safeguarding them against asset seizures, highlighting what she describes as a legislative gap that undermines the purposes of bankruptcy laws.
Apostolaki’s comments were directed towards financial policies discussed by Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, claiming that the government is mischaracterizing its handling of private debt as a reform when, according to her, it merely addresses the consequences of problems that have been maintained over the past seven years. She emphasized the need for effective protection for borrowers, asserting that the government's policies are insufficient and primarily serve public relations rather than offering real solutions.
