Construction conglomerate AKTOR Group has formally proposed to acquire a 75% stake in two environmental firms, Helector and Thalis, from Motor Oil. The proposal, which was submitted for consideration to the Euronext Athens exchange, marks AKTOR's strategic move into Greece's circular economy sector.
Following the submission of the bid, AKTOR and Motor Oil entered into exclusive negotiations aimed at finalizing a binding share purchase agreement and a shareholder agreement. This development is expected to strengthen AKTOR's position in the environmental project market and promote synergies between the two companies, particularly in waste management initiatives.
The discussions also include considerations related to a natural gas pipeline project, although specific details on these matters were not disclosed in the reports. The proposed acquisition underscores a growing interest in the circular economy among major players in the Greek market, as they seek to capitalize on environmental sustainability trends.
