AEK has reached an agreement with Luka Jović to extend his contract until 2029. Several outlets, including newsit.gr, in.gr, and iefimerida.gr, reported on July 9, 2026, that a verbal agreement had been reached. Proto Thema noted on the same day that some details still needed to be finalized before a definitive agreement could be announced.
By July 10, 2026, Ta Nea reported that AEK had secured Jović's stay, finalizing one of the summer's key open issues. The new contract is for four years.
Newsit.gr and Alpha News, both on July 9, 2026, stated that the new contract includes a "mammoth" or "dizzying" release clause, with Alpha News adding that the clause for the Serbian forward has doubled.
