A 63-year-old man was arrested in Zygi after approximately two kilograms of cannabis were discovered in his possession during a police operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN). Officers found a significant portion of the cannabis hidden in a dog cage, among other locations in his vehicle. The arrest took place following a traffic stop on a road between Zygi and Mari.
During the search, authorities also seized several items, including ammunition, two mobile phones, and 743 euros, which are being investigated for possible links to illegal activities. The man has been placed under a seven-day detention for further inquiries into the drug trafficking case. This incident is being looked into as part of a broader investigation, with reports indicating that the suspect's son was previously arrested last year for a separate drug-related offense involving eight kilograms of cannabis.
