The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) in Greece has initiated the disbursement of €617.4 million in agricultural subsidies, benefiting over 1.1 million recipients. This significant payout, which involves payments to 1,142,948 beneficiaries corresponding to 529,494 unique tax identification numbers (AFMs), marks a notable advance in the government's commitment to support farmers. With this latest distribution, total agricultural subsidies for 2026 have now surpassed €1 billion.
Officials have emphasized that this payment not only meets the government's promises to Greek farmers but also reflects progress in restoring trust in the subsidy system. The current payouts follow a crackdown on fraud, aiming to ensure that these financial aids reach deserving farmers and livestock producers. Agriculture Minister and AADE representatives reiterated their commitment to transparency and support for the agricultural sector during the announcement.
