Nicosia has emerged as a destination for only 6 percent of incoming tourists to Cyprus, according to recent reports. The figures indicate that the capital is increasingly attracting a younger demographic, with a significant portion of its visitors being under the age of 40. Notably, the tourism profile in Nicosia shows that a majority of these visitors are women, comprising about 51 percent of the total.
Despite the comparatively low percentage of tourists selecting Nicosia, there is a growing trend, particularly during the winter months when the percentage more than doubles to approximately 15 percent. Tourists are drawn to the city for its authentic experiences, gastronomy, and nightlife, reflecting a shift in travel preferences toward more local and unique cultural experiences. The local tourism board is optimistic about this upward trend and continues to promote the city to a broader audience.
