The Harley-Davidson motorcycle that served as part of Archbishop Makarios’ official escort has been fully restored and returned to operational status after more than 50 years of inactivity. The restoration project was a collaborative effort between the Cyprus Police and a specialized motorcycle restoration company, with the vehicle now displayed at the Cyprus Police Museum.
This 1960 model, known as the Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glide, is recognized as a significant piece of modern Cypriot history, having played a key role in public ceremonies and events attended by Archbishop Makarios during his leadership. The Cyprus Police have acknowledged the restoration as an important initiative for preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Cyprus.
The motorcycle was officially unveiled in its restored condition and has been showcased as one of the prominent exhibits at the museum, marking a celebration of the vehicle's historical significance and its connection to the country's past.
