In the first half of 2026, air passenger traffic at Greek airports saw an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (ΥΠΑ). This growth was evident across all categories of aviation, including international flights to and from Greece, as well as domestic routes, reflecting a consistent upward trend in air travel within the country.
The increase in passenger numbers indicates a significant recovery in the aviation sector, with 39 airports across Greece contributing to this rise. Notably, reports also highlight that among the 24 airports directly managed by ΥΠΑ, the growth rate was even higher at 6.2%. This positive trend underscores a broader resurgence of the tourism and travel sectors in Greece, following the challenges posed by the global pandemic in previous years.
