xAI has open-sourced its command-line tool "Grok-Build" on GitHub following a significant data breach.

The breach involved "Grok Build" uploading entire directories, which contained sensitive information like SSH keys and password databases, to Google Cloud servers.

In response to the backlash, Elon Musk announced plans to delete all user data that was uploaded inadvertently.

The full codebase, consisting of 844,530 lines of Rust code, has been made available to the public.

The decision to open-source the tool comes after public concern over the data privacy implications of the breach.
